Tasmanian Women in Business Conference 2026
The Stream team attended the 2026 Tasmanian Women in Business Conference, an insightful two-day gathering of women, created to empower women in business through confidence, connection and learning.
The speakers were enthusiastic and from many walks of life. It was inspiring to hear their unique stories of juggling a career with family and other interests. They spoke of the challenges that they faced in business and how they overcame difficulties including their mindset for success.

The speakers included:
Dr. Lila Landowski was the keynote speaker. Lila is a multi-award-winning Neuroscientist who has an impressive career in medicine and teaching. She shared with us her insights into stress and how that affects the brain, mentally and physiologically. She shared tips on managing stress and efficient ways to deal with conflict.
“A little stress improves learning…but a lot of long-term stress impairs it”
Dr Lila Landowski
Andi Lucas, Founder & Managing Director X-Hemp gave a wonderful talk on her career to date, and the circumstances that lead to her establishing X-Hemp, Tasmania’s only mill of its kind and the only majority female-owned and operated hemp facility in the world.
Rosie Putland, Founder and Principal Accessibility Consultant talked about barriers disabled people face accessing social media, website content and packaging labels.
Bianca McKenzie, North Marketing Strategist and organiser of the event, gave us valuable insight into invisible marketing techniques, which includes respectful interaction with people reaching out to your business through enquiries or job applications and how make to most of your existing client database and retain customer loyalty.
Tameeka Lynch, financial broker, spoke of budgeting strategies, paying off debt and government assistance for home loans.

Kat Kingsley is life coach and founder of Wild Child Adventures. Kat shared her story and talked about the adventure mindset, which includes steps like exploration, taking-action and self-leadership.
“Become curious, embrace the unknown with courage, and back yourself”
Kat Kingsley
Amy James, personal brand strategist, talked about building a personal brand so ‘you’ become the brand not the company you own or work for. This means no matter what the future holds, you can keep your personal brand and grow and change that, as needed.
“You’re not here to be liked, you’re here to be chosen”
Amy James
Dr. Kate Cashman was the MC for the event. She had a great stage presence and a good sense of humour and kept us all entertained in between speakers.

Overall, a fun two-day event for women who want to meet other women in business, share their story, make friends, network and learn about new ways of looking at the world.
For us it was an important team-building week, as we also celebrated our upcoming 17th year in business birthday with a delicious dinner at Basalt Restaurant, at The Cove in Devonport.
